![]() I had to make the adult decision that my health was more important than anything else. My resume may not be packed to the brim with various clubs and activities and I may not be the top of my class, but I am healthy, I still do well in school and I am still active in the community. I feel that being diagnosed with this disease transitioned me into adulthood. I made the decision to quit the clubs I wasn’t really interested in, not be so worried about my grades all of the time and try to take a break every once in awhile. My new doctor told me to avoid flare ups in the future I had to exercise more, I had to eat better and I had to reduce stress anyway I could. I was joining random clubs I wasn’t interested in just to build up my resume. The decisions I made during this year and the effects they had on me, changed me as a person forever. I refused to make the mistakes I saw my older cousins and sister make when they applied to college. I realized how my choices in high school could have an effect on my future. I knew the ins and the outs of the school, I knew who my friends were and I had befriended upperclassmen who watched out for me, but I was also more stressed. I was no longer the tiny little freshman who had no idea what she was doing. I thought I finally understood my environment.
